Overview

S8 is the precision session. Tall, sharp, unforgiving ridges where a degree of imprecision in wheel placement produces an immediate response from the vehicle. Soft side approaches to large ridges. The management of vehicle dynamics in conditions that test the limit of control.

This session also introduces the principles of leading — the awareness, communication, and judgment that begin to prepare members for the convoy leadership skills developed fully in S12. You begin to think not just about your own driving, but about the group.

S8 is technically demanding and deeply satisfying. Every clean run on a sharp ridge is earned.

What you'll cover

• Tall, sharp ridge driving — the highest technical precision demand in the curriculum to this point
• Large ridge soft side approach — entering from the loose face of a tall, sharp ridge with full control
• Vehicle dynamics management — understanding and controlling body roll, weight transfer, and traction at the limit
• Precision without drift — maintaining vehicle line on demanding ridges through input quality, not correction
• Introduction to leading principles — developing group awareness, communication, and convoy reading
• The discipline of repetition — returning to a ridge until it is driven correctly, not just once

Progression — Marshal sign-off required. Member must demonstrate precise, drift-free control on tall sharp ridges and large soft side approaches.
